Remember Me

Staff Profile

Doris Wilson — Graphic Designer and Public Relations Manager

I started in a part-time position in the American Philatelic Research Library, in December 1990, just in time to enjoy the annual Christmas party. After about a month I became full time by working half my time in the APRL cataloging journals and auction catalogues and working the other half in the Communication Department (now Shows and Exhibitions). For several years I also was the secretary to the Director of Development. Eventually, I became full time in the Communications Department.

I then became the Youth Coordinator with the task of developing the All*Star Stamp Club. During this time I worked in the Education Department assisting them when needed. I became the APS webmaster, but still kept the position of Youth Coordinator.

In 2003 I moved “down the hall” to the Editorial Department where I do graphic design work that includes the PLR, monthly e-newsletter, brochures, ads, StampShow programs and many other projects given to us. For several years I maintained the APS website then in December 2016 that task was given back to me.

When I first attended stamps shows I helped in the youth area at the APS StampShow, AmeriStamp Expo and Mega-Event. Now I enjoy meeting APS members while working at the APS booth at stamp shows.

I live in Grazierville — a small community about 35 miles southwest of Bellefonte — with my husband John. We have three sons, twins Johnny and Jerry, and our youngest Jason. We have six grandsons (including a set of twins) and one granddaughter. Outside the APS I am involved in the church and the American Legion Auxiliary. I hold several offices in the auxiliary (at different levels) and find it rewarding helping our veterans. I enjoy spending time with my family, camping, crocheting, and working on counted cross-stitch projects.
