StampStore
Submissions
Items submitted on the StampStore sales sheets
must be mounted so that a computer scan shows the item clearly
and completely.
1. Clear mounts must be used for mounting items
on the sales sheets. Glassine envelopes cloud the images and
buyers usually will take a “pass” on items they
cannot see clearly on their screens. Items that cannot be scanned
for clear images will be returned to the seller.
2. Sets must
show each item completely. Overlapping and stacking
stamps on a page hide part or all of the item being presented.
Also, manila stock cards hide half of the stamps mounted in
them; a stock card with clear strips should be used instead.
Duplication of stamps within an offered set is discouraged.
It is unlikely that multiple copies of a stamp will sell as
one lot.
3. Catalogue
values must be entered for each item or set submitted. We are
aware that there may be some offerings that are not listed
in any catalogue. For these items, there should be some reference
for comparison with the selling price, whether that comparison
is from a dealer’s price list, an auction
catalogue, or other published values. Asking prices that are
higher than the referenced value are reviewed and the items
may be returned to the seller.
4. We strongly suggest that a
generally recognized expert certificate accompany items priced
at more than $500. Please note that buyers may choose to send
any item of any value through our expert service for
a certificate. If the item is judged to be not as described
and the buyer rejects the purchase, the seller pays the expert
fee. Having a certificate with a submitted item may add value to the offering
and making it more likely to find a buyer.
Foreign
Circuit Update
By mid-summer, we will have our foreign electronic circuits set
up and running. This month, we are testing the procedures with
the members who are in the military and with selected foreign
members to fine-tune the process. Images will be sent by e-mail
attachment or by DVD for the member to choose items of interest.
The selections will be sent to the member on approval and purchases
finalized. We do not yet have the capability to place the images
online for viewing only by the member for whom the circuit was
filmed. If that option becomes available, we will let you know,
as it would be the most efficient way to offer these circuits.
This
service will be available only to addresses outside the United
States and Puerto Rico and may have a small fee attached for
image processing. If your address is outside the U.S. and you
are interested in this foreign circuit program, e-mail me at
twhorn@stamps.org and you will be among the first to receive
updated information.

‘5
For 10’ Categories (Needs)
Please note the change from an average value per book
to a minimum value in order to qualify for the coupons. We need
U.S. items, except U.S. First Day Covers, U.S. Mint post-1950,
U.S. Used post-1950, and U.S. Plate Blocks post-1950. You can
earn coupons for free blank books and mounts for every 10 completed
books containing material from a set list of categories. (Each
group of 10 or more qualifying books must be received at the
same time and be valued at at least $50
per book. The coupons
are issued when the qualifying books are reviewed soon after
arriving.) Each book must be designed to
fit one of the categories, exclusively. Details are sent with
blank sales book orders. You also may visit www.stamps.org and
click on Sales Division and How to Sell. [Note: Single-country
