Autographs and Authors at APS StampShow
2008
Autographs will be available for those who wish to have books
signed during APS StampShow 2008 August 14-17 at the Connecticut
Convention Center in Hartford.
Chris Calle
U.S. and foreign stamp designer Chris Calle will be available to
sign stamps, cover, or the new U.S. Stamps
of Chris Calle album
available free in downloadable pdf format at: www.stamps.org/albums/calle.pdf
The
album has places for all of Calle’s U.S. stamps, plus
a blank page for his autograph, covers, and other memorabilia.
An outstanding artist who has created cover cachets for many American
Philatelic Society events, Calle also designed the Portraits of
the Wild West to be released in a 16-stamp Marshall Islands pane
on August 14 at APS StampShow, and will take part in the August
15 first day ceremony for the new U.S. 42-cent Sunflower stamp.
Chris
will be available to sign autographs periodically at the APS
Booth throughout the four-day show.
Donald J. Sundman
One of the nation’s most successful stamp dealers
and a tireless promoter of philately at all levels of the hobby,
Mystic Stamp Co. President Donald J. Sundman is co-author with
Janet Klug of
100 Greatest American Stamps, available for $29.95 at the APS Booth.
He will be available to sign copies of the book at the Affiliates
Booth on Thursday, August 14, at 3:30 p.m.
Lawrence Block
An exceptional mystery author whose works have won awards on three
continents, APS member Lawrence Block may be best known to philatelists
for his engaging tales of introspective, stamp-collecting killer-for-hire
John Keller. The keynote speaker at this year’s Tiffany
Dinner, Block will have his latest Keller opus, Hit
and Run,
for sale and will autograph copies Friday at 11:00 a.m. at the
Affiliates Booth.
Janet Klug
Immediate Past President of APS Janet Klug is as active and vibrant
an ambassador for the stamp hobby as you’ll find in America
today, an accomplished exhibitor, and an engaging philatelic
writer who has written frequently for The
American Philatelist,
Linn’s Stamp News, Scott
Stamp Monthly, Global Stamp News,
and many other journals of the hobby. She is co-author with Donald
Sundman of 100 Greatest U.S. Stamps, and most recently in collaboration
with the Smithsonian National Postal Museum authored a Guide
to Stamp Collecting, available for $19.95 at the APS Booth. She
will be available to sign autographs at the Affiliates Booth
on Saturday at 1 p.m.
